Peace & Love (what the hell?) What the hell were they protesting in the '60's Didn't they know there was a war goin' on? Wrapped up in rainbows and flowers of the earth It wouldn't be long before that vision was gone Well, make love not war, Love all thy neighbors Some messages that they sent Well, they tried and they failed then moved on to the next thing I wonder where they all went They wanted peace & love What the hell were they dancing for in the '70's Didn't they know blacks & whites can't get along? This racial tension will last for all lifetime The music will play but we'll never sing the song They just got caught up in good thingsand thought of themselves While others lived in fear all alone Well, they just turned their heads and went to the disco And had sex with everyone But that's not peace & love What the hell were the '80's and the '90's Did we discover the truth in money bags? We speak in riddles, using extra soft language And who we are comes through things that we have Now they tell us to say "no" to sex and the drugs And so much for rock & roll Guess it's time to be free using technology In this retro - fashion show Who still wants peace & love? I got your peace & love! Copyright 2000 (Robert West)
