The Sundown Lullaby There's so much to life that I will never know When peace is gone I suppose I'll be alone Don't walk away with teardrops in your eyes If solitude comes it doesn't mean you have to hide I light a candle tonight in your name It goes out of conrol and becomes a bright eyed flame Over the shore, flying high up in the sky They're watching over you, you don't need to cry For there's a song playing for you that you will never know And someone's beside you everywhere you go There's a seed you buried in the ground getting rain tonight And even though you don't see light, you know that it's allright There's a wind blowing whispers, secrets in the air The uncontrolled twilight receives an awkward stare There's a message that you sent in a bottle through the sea No one gave an answer.....and a clue is is all you need It all seems to begin where the waves come crashing in But the rolling water is actually the end Statued here dazzled by what I see tonight The sand imitates embers, from the full moons light Sprouting in the fields, the earth remains the same We remain the children, we portray a drop of rain People walk through my life and see me everyday And I get a little wiser with every word I say There's a ship that croossed the ocean many years ago I wonder where it is now, which way did it go? I wanna know There's stories I can tell of red suns & tye-dyed skies And flying things that have no wings and need no rest to ride Purple mountains, ice blue sand...where the fruit still grows A garden of our youth that no one else shall know Child, rest your head, there's peace beyond the clouds Sleep away the night without a sound Woman, close your eyes and dream of this tonight For in the morning, there'll be another light Say Goodnight Copyright 1995 (Robert West)
