WATCH THE WORLD GO BY The lights in the sky put a spell on me The man in the moon has eyes Still I cannot grasp what he sees in me Perhaps they're lies in disguise I learn to appreciate sanity But souls get beaten and worn Past still exists psychologically But it don't take tangible form anymore Place a crown of thorns upon my helm Bless myself with his ways or walk alone I gaze upon a world of lies and avidity So many lack the strength to stand up and walk away A million people lie dead on their knees A thousand more with no place, nothing to eat Today the people can't even walk the streets It's all a part of bad dreams, concocted fantasies Sit and watch the world go by as the clouds roll by in the sky It all eats your mind philosophically The sun can dry up your eyes Still nobody sees what it does to me But the man in the moon starts to cry Yesterday I thought all was vanity It's time to leave it behind Turn and walk through the door of obscurity Lessons taught to comply, my mind So many people hide calamity They hold their breath and hate life Of course I'm speaking hypothetically What if the world ends tonight? Sit and watch the world go by and let the tears form up in my eyes Copyright 1995 (Robert West)
